Walkley [1855-1926] was a drama critic and worked as theatre criticfor the Times for 26 years. This collection of essays does not include reprints of his critical articles. Instead these pieces are entertaining essays and flights of fancy around the English stage, including a chapter where Lady Catherine takes a box at Drury Lane, and one where Roger de Coverley visits the Russian ballet. He writes about film when it is still silent but already overtaking live plays in popularity in the US. Paper cover with black cloth spine and paper labels.
