Walkley [1855-1926] was a drama critic and worked as theatre criticfor the Times for 26 years. This collection of essays does not include reprints of his critical articles. Instead these pieces are entertaining essays and flights of fancy around the English stage, including a chapter where Lady Catherine takes a box at Drury Lane, and one where Roger de Coverley visits the Russian ballet.
